A Day with my Hubby!!

It's not often William & I just get to have a fun filled day together. Heather gave William Sacramento Kings Tickets for Christmas so we took a day and went to Sacramento & Manteca. Our first stop was the Bass Pro Shop in Manteca. This is a new store in town within the past couple of months and since he drives by it on a weekly basis he wanted to go check it out. It was great because I benefited from the visit and got some fishing attire. When we fish in the winter and late fall it can get pretty cold out on the water so we bought me some Under Armor clothing that is suppose to keep me warm in the colder weather. We will see on Sunday when we go Steelhead fishing on the Klamath. Our next stop was a dinner date in Lodi with some R-Ranch friends Dennis & GerryAnn. It was great getting caught up with them. Then on to Sacramento to the Kings game. This was my second game but Williams first. It was a great game against the Utah Jazz. The Kings lost in a very close match. It was fun also because we were able to see the retirement of #4 Jersey that was last worn by Chris Webber. Many of his teammates that played with him were in attendance and some of them were actually names I recognized like Vlade Divac, Doug Christie and Scott Pollard. We stayed the night and headed home early Saturday and he took me by his new Sacramento office.

Random Act of Kindness

I must share this most amazing story ... it brought tears to my eyes.

Last night Stephanie & Jordan, along with 4 other young adults, went to Cool Hand Lukes for dinner. When it was time to leave and pay the bill the waitress told them the bill had already been taken care of. They were all amazed and wondered who did such a thing. They asked who and of course the waitress wouldn't tell them. They all began to look around to see if they recognized anyone in the restaurant to which none of them did. As they sat at the table talking and looking around the waitress could tell they were trying to figure out who had paid the bill. They questioned her again and was told a nice gentleman said when he was younger and out with a group of friends someone had picked up the tab and we wanted to repay the favor to another group of young people.
It's nice to know we still have some kind people in this world!! This will hopefully have an impact on the young people and they will be able to do the same to another young group of friends.

I am Blessed!

As many of you know my husband William has an incredible gift of woodworking. The recipients of his talents are many (of which I am not included .... YET!!). When Alexis was born he decided that she needed a crib and dresser built by her Papa ... an amazing beautiful crib and dresser came out of the workshop. Alexis didn't have much to do with sleeping in her crib as it was not her favorite sleeping spot (next to mommy was much better in her opinion). That's okay because along came Taylor and she was more than happy to sleep in the crib. Well .... now that Taylor is almost 2 Papa once again went into his workshop and produced 2 beautiful twin beds for our adorable granddaughters. Let me tell you a house could probably fall of these beds and not destroy them. They don't move an inch once they were assembled.

Alexis was very excited when she heard Papa was building her a big girl bed .... every time they came over she would run to the shop to see Papa and her bed. It was fun to see her eyes light up during the process. Taylor was excited too but she just doesn't express it like her sister. When Heather was out shopping for new bedding and the sales clerks would ask if she is finding everything Alexis would tell them her Papa is building her a bed .... Heather said it was VERY CUTE. When I ask the girls how they like their beds Taylor gets a big smile and says PAPA!! They will be treasures for life for these two lucky girls. Next project out of Will's Workshop .... a dresser for Taylor (just like her sisters).

2009 Wish List

I am putting together my 2009 Wish List in hopes to complete at least 50% .... I will most likely add things throughout the year and hopefully remember to keep updated with my progress. These are things that I was also thinking of during my Restless Night .....

1) Find a chuch to attend
2) Get involved in a Ladies Bible Study to help grow spiritually
3) Rekindle FAMILY relationships - it is very sad that both sets of parents live in Redding and we only see them once or twice a year if we force ourselves to
4) Get the courage up to have a sit down with my Mother In Law and share some hurts that I have felt .... most likely will be a letter.
5) Encourage my daughter to get a life outside of her comfort zone .... ie: job, boyfriend
6) Spend more quality time with Alexis & Taylor

Restless Night

Last night I think I got a (small) glimpse into how Susie feels .... a sleepless night .... my brain just wouldn't shut down ... read a little .... listened to soft music .... tossed and turned .... checked the clock .... yep - still awake at 1:30 .... 2:30 .... 3:15 finally dozing off only to the alarm at 6:15. Didn't want to get out of bed. So what did I do during these fretful hours .... think about blogging and creating another blogg called "Keeping Up with the Godman's" ... hopefully this blogg will be helpful for our friends and family that live far away that want to know what we are up to ... do I really care if people read it .... No - but it would be nice. If nothing else it will be a spot to post fun stuff ..... maybe it will inspire others to do the same. I hope to keep this blogg site up with more personal stuff and a place just to write thoughts (will probably have to change the title!!) .... we will see .... maybe I will only need one site. After all if a working mother of 3 can maintain two sites I should be able to as well. I have so many things to blogg about that I have starting writing stuff down just so I don't forget them. My first one .... New Year's Resolutions!! Kim has inspired me with her November postings of things she is Thankful For .... didn't want to copy her so that will be coming up soon hopefully. Take care friends and here's to more happy blogging and reading.

Sugar Cookies and Grandbabies!

Flour flying .... eggs cracking .... giggles and laughter all around. Yesterday I had my first baking experience with the girls. It was an experience I won't soon forget. We made the dough from scratch. Each of the girls took turns dumping stuff into the bowl and stirring the ingredients together. The flour mixture was quite an experience. I think more flour ended up on the girls and the counter than in the bowl. Then the egg cracking .... let me tell you ... Alexis can crack one mean egg with one hand and not get the shells into the bowl ... she has learned well from her mommy. Next comes the rolling of the dough and the cutting of the cookies. What is it with young cookie makers when they think after the dough is rolled out they have to aim for the center of the circle with the cookie cutter? I just don't get it. Well, after all was said and done we ended up with two plates full of cookies - some resemble snowflakes and some resemble candy canes. We didn't tackle frosting and sprinkles this year .... we will venture into that experience next year!!
